Pure mineral makeup that's kind to your skin and sits beautifully over Lyonsleaf skincare. Most of the range is made in the UK by Barefaced Beauty, an ethical small business, and all the makeup here is vegan and cruelty-free.

Why mineral makeup?

Mineral powders are simply finely milled minerals, such as mica and iron oxides. There's no water in them, so there's nothing that needs a preservative. They give light, buildable coverage that feels barely there, which is why so many people with sensitive skin prefer them to liquid foundation. Barefaced Beauty test their minerals for heavy metals too.

Mascara is the one exception: we don't believe a 100% natural mascara is possible, and the one we stock, by Bomonde, is the best we've found.

Wearing it with Lyonsleaf skincare

• Prime first. Smooth a thin layer of Beauty Balm over your face, give it a minute or two to sink in, then buff in Mineral Foundation.
• Blend away a white cast. Mineral foundation sits well over Zinc and Calendula Cream too, and covers its white cast.
• Tone down redness. Use Mineral Colour Corrector in Calm under your foundation to tone down redness, or Sunlight to brighten dark circles.
• Take it off. In the evening, massage Beauty Balm over your face and wipe it away with a warm, damp muslin. It melts off everything, mascara included, without stripping your skin.
