Calendula is one of the oldest known herbs used for eczema and to calm all sorts of inflammation. It is very well known as a useful alternative to topical steroid creams. 

Sadly although calendula for eczema is a well established natural protocol, many calendula creams contain anti-microbial preservatives and emulsifiers which can irritate sensitive skin.

Here at Lyonsleaf we only make calendula products using pure plant oils, natural waxes and butters. We believe this is why we receive so many amazing reviews from customers who have used Lyonsleaf calendula for eczema without adverse reactions, after finding so many other products have failed or caused further problems.

As our range has grown organically, responding to customer feedback we now have calendula products that are suitable for skin prone to eczema and it is difficult to predict which one may be most suitable for any customer. Calendula and Marshmallow Balm

• Very hydrating and softening
• For very dry eczema, itchy, cracked, chapped rough or hard skin. 
• Super hydrating and calming. 
  
• Not vegan! (contains organic beeswax).
• Suitable for infants from 4 weeks

Zinc and Calendula Cream

• For burning eczema, itchy, weepy skin* (see note below about open skin)
• Zinc and Calendula Cream is very water repellant so it is useful as a barrier cream to protect fragile skin when bathing too.
• Cooling and calming this product can dry out weepy or blistering eczema.
• Not vegan! (contains organic beeswax).
• Suitable for infants from 4 weeks

Calendula Cream

• This is a whipped lighter product, fragranced with therapeutic essential oils which may be helpful for some people or could irritate others.
• Contains a high percentage of shea butter, (not in the other two calendula products) which can be very beneficial for some eczema sufferers.
• A great product to keep minor inflammations at bay and can be used as a daily moisturiser after cleansing to hydrate, calm and protect.
• Feels more like a beauty product than our other calendula products.
• Vegan
• Suitable for adults and children over 3 years.

A note about open skin*
Be aware Lyonsleaf products are not sterile and do not contain broad spectrum antimicrobial preservatives that will kill bacteria entering the product on dirty fingers, so care should be taken where there is open skin and a danger of infection. (These preservatives often irritate eczema prone skin which is why we don't use them). Bacteria cannot multiply in our products as there is no water element, but any bacteria that is introduced will not be killed as it would in a product preserved with antimicrobial preservatives like parabens or phenoxyethanal, so don't apply our products to a wound that is deep enough to need a dressing and don't apply Lyonsleaf product to any open skin at all of infants under 3 years old.
