Collection: Creams for perioral dermatitis prone skin

Lyonsleaf products are regulated as cosmetics so we can only recommend you use them to keep normal, healthy skin in good condition. We cannot advocate the use of any of our products as an perioral dermatitis cream, although we can say that our customers with perioral dermatitis seem to often buy our Clean and Clear Natural Skincare System and if they feel they have very sensitive skin, which is often the case when a person has perioral dermatitis, we always recommend they buy the version with the Unfragranced Beauty Balm.

The Beauty Balm (which is also available fragranced) Can be used to cleanse, moisturise and prime as part of the Clean and Clear Natural Skincare System. After cleansing and as required the Zinc and Calendula Cream can be applied to any area affected by perioral dermatitis. Some customers do not like the white cast the Zinc and Calendula Cream leaves on the skin (due to the zinc oxide powder) in which case they can use our Calendula and Marshmallow Balm which is a similar product but without the zinc oxide. We do think the zinc and calendula is preferred by customers with perioral dermatitis. 

If the white cast is an issue and customers want to use the Zinc And Calendula Cream during the day, it can be combined with our Mineral Foundation to match the customers skin tone. The two products can be mixed in the palm to make a 100% natural liquid foundation, or the powder can be brushed and blended over the Zinc and Calendula Cream using a powder or kabuki brush. This can take a little practice, but when mastered you can use the products to make a very natural looking, non-reactive, 100% natural, anti-inflammatory concealer / foundation, perfect for those with perioral dermatitis.

If you have any sort of problem skin you should, of course, see a doctor or a dermatologist. We also recommend becoming ingredient savvy, to help you make good choices whenever applying anything to your skin. Be aware that the Association of British Dermatologists say that perioral dermatitis is caused by the use of topical steroid creams and it seems some doctors are unaware of this and can prescribe them for perioral dermatitis.

Lyonsleaf products that are rich in calendula are naturally calming and do not cause Perioral Dermatitis as steroid creams do. All Lyonsleaf products improve and maintain good skin barrier function, sealing moisture in and keeping pathogens out. Improving skin barrier is very beneficial for perioral dermatitis prone skin.
