Below are the products in our range that are completely vegan. 

We also have some products that would be vegan except for the inclusion of organic beeswax.

We thought carefully about using organic beeswax, we realised it would not suit some customers, but we felt it was the best choice overall. We could have used a vegetable wax instead, but vegetable crops are still harmful, they often cause deforestation, loss of habitat and loss of diversity, so we looked carefully at the options.

We agree eating a plant based diet is definitely a positive choice when compared to eating beef or even other less environmentally impacting meats, and we applaud the vegan choice.

But we found there were significant environmental problems with using plant based cosmetic waxes. Candelilla wax is the only real alternative and that has a terrible environmental reputation. It has been over harvested causing serious ecosystem problems and loss of bio-diversity. It is also extracted using sulfuric acid which pollutes waterways, kills wildlife and causes serious health problems to workers. So we looked again at beeswax.

We only use organic beeswax. We know bees are farmed and they can be treated badly. We believe our insistence on organic wax, means we are using farmers who care and will not mistreat their bees. Organic standards mean bees must be left honey to feed themselves in the winter and can only be fed organic sugar syrup at very specific and limited times. 

Organic beekeeping also requires great swathes of land to be managed without pesticides and herbicides, you cant get organic beekeeping status if your bees are foraging on land where toxic chemicals are used. So, organic Beekeeping actually promotes clean land management, biodiversity and pollination. On balance we felt the beeswax option was kindest, cleanest and best.

So if you are a vegan you can choose the products below and if you are happy to use organic beeswax, all of our balms / creams / rubs will be acceptible to you.

Please be aware they vegan solid products below are not very stable in very warm temperatures. they will melt at around 30c and can sometimes become grainy when they reset. If this happens you can restore their smooth texture by following these steps:

1. Remelt the product by standing the jar in some hot water (not boiling). Make sure the lid is on very tight.
   
2. Give it a really good shake, again with the lid on very tight!
   
3. Reset quickly by placing the jar in the fridge. 

It will have a slightly different texture, but it should be smooth and will be work just as well. Be sure not to heat our products  repeatedly or they will lose potency over time. As far as possible store in a cool dark place.
