A Simple Skincare Routine for Balanced Skin
Balanced skin doesn't need much intervention, mostly consistency and protection from what would tip it out of balance. This is about as simple a skincare routine as it gets: morning, evening, and one weekly treatment.
Morning Routine
- Rinse – A splash of cool water is usually enough.
- Moisturise – Apply Beauty Balm over your whole face. It's rich in sun-stable tropical oils, making it the right choice for daytime use.
- Sun protection – If you'll be in direct sun, apply a mineral sunscreen (zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) before makeup.
- Makeup (optional) – Our mineral make-up range works well over Beauty Balm.
Evening Routine
- Cleanse – Massage a pea-sized amount of Beauty Balm over dry skin to dissolve makeup, sunscreen and the day's build-up. Remove gently with a warm, damp flannel.
- Moisturise – Apply Marshmallow Soften and Rejuvenate Facial Oil over your whole face. It's rich in linoleic acid, exactly the kind of repair-focused ingredient best used at night rather than during UV exposure (see our Free Radicals page for why).
Weekly Treatment: Vitamin C Brightening Mask
Once or twice a week, use the Vitamin C Exfoliating Face Mask as a mask: mix with water (or floral water, avocado, or yoghurt for extra nourishment) into a smooth paste, apply to clean, damp skin, and leave on without rubbing it in for a brightening treatment.
If you want the exfoliating benefit too, use a very gentle circular motion while applying, be careful not to scrub hard, this is a physical exfoliant and skin is easily over-worked. Keep this to once a week rather than every application, balanced skin doesn't need more frequent physical exfoliation than that, and overdoing it can tip things out of balance rather than help.
If your skin becomes reactive at any point, our Natural Skincare Routine for Dry & Sensitive Skin covers more targeted options, including how to use zinc and calendula safely. If it veers the other way, oilier or more blemish-prone, our Oily, Combination & Blemish-Prone routine has you covered instead. But if your skin's behaving itself, there's genuinely no need to complicate things beyond what's above.
